There was a time where inspiration was a huge part of daily living, to do anything meant to be inspired to actually get up and work.

But, that time has rolled away leaving people who seek inspiration with the guilt of desiring to be inspired at all. In this age we’ve ruled out inspiration as being an excuse to not get work done and the following sayings have become cliches to live by –
“Inspiration is for amateurs — the rest of us just show up and get to work.”
“A self-respecting artist must not fold his hands on the pretext that he is not in the mood.”

However, the truth is that there are days when you show up at your desk or ‘get to work’ and still remain discouraged, uninspired and unproductive. So, What do you do on days like that? How do you work or get yourself together when the muse has refused to show up.

Here are a few suggestions that we think will rouse the muse or at least give you some level of inspiration in your own way:

Listen to hilarious podcasts or watch your favorite intelligent comedian. Calming your nerves with hilarity can be one of the best ways to stir up your productive bones and get energy to light up in work.

Watch Commencement or Graduation Speeches. There’s nothing more inspiring than listening to or watching your hero and heroine tell you not to give up; make you understand a lot of things and give you the courage to get up. These Mark Zuckerberg and Maria Popova commencement speeches are my favorites,

Read your favorite positives.
Yeap! Reading is a fantastic jump starter for your failing heart. Have a handful of positive readings that serve as pick-me-up and go to them. It could be anything from comics, to short stories, to blogs. Anything that works for you.
